1. Attention Stance.
Feet shoulder width apart and the sword in the right hand. Right thumb is pressed lightly against the
sword guard. The left hand is laid lightly, but firmly on the front of the left thigh.

2. Transfer sword to left side.
The sword is drawn its length and the tip presented to the left hand. The tip is inserted into a circle formed by the left thumb and forefinger and the sword is thrust into the �sheath� smoothly and firmly.

3. Bow.
Executed from the waist to about a thirty degree
angle. The eyes remain focused ahead.
|
4. Attention stance.
Sword is held in the left hand with the left thumb pressed lightly against the sword guard. The right hand is laid slightly to the outside of the right thigh in a relaxed manner.
Drawing the Sword (Ppo-pa-kal)

1. Attention stance.
Sword is held in the left hand with the thumb
pressed lightly against the sword guard (k'o dung I), facing the 12 o�clock position.

2. Prepare to draw.
Step forward one step with the right foot
as the right hand grasps the handle of the
sword and rotates it 90 degrees.
|
3. Draw the sword.
With a balanced effort of draw with the
right hand, and push with the left thumb, the
sword is drawn at a 45 degree angle across the body.

4. Middle Guard Position (jun daze)
Weight is evenly distributed on both feet with the heel of the left foot slightly off the floor. Knees are straight, but not locked. Back is straight and
the shoulders are square to the front. The tip of the sword is pointed at the opponent's throat.

Strike: Descending Diagonal Cut to the Right

5. First Push step.
Moving from a center of gravity just below the waist, and pressing firmly with the ball of the rear foot, step forward with the right foot, maintaining contact with the floor.
Draw the left leg forward to complete the step

6. Second Push step.
Pressing firmly with the ball of the left foot, step forward with the right foot, maintaining contact with the floor.
Draw the left leg forward to complete the step

7. Third Push step.
Pressing firmly with the ball of the rear foot, step forward with the right foot, maintaining contact with the floor.
Draw the left leg forward to complete the step

8. Rearward Push step.
Pressing firmly with the ball of the right foot, step rearward with the left foot, maintaining contact with the floor.
Draw the right leg rearward to complete the step

9. Prepare to execute cut.
Retract sword from guard position to an attitude approximately 45 degrees across the shoulder area. The right foot is on the ball of the foot pointed to the right (3 o�clock position) at a 90 degree angle.

10. Initiate Cut.
Step out lightly to the right, maintaining contact
with the floor. The cut is begun at the hip, followed by the shoulder and lastly, the sword.

11. Follow through.
The sword cut follows a path at approximately
60 degrees targeting the area at the opponent' collarbone.
|
12. Completion of strike.
Weight is distributed approximately 60% (front leg) to 40% (rear leg) with the edge of the sword just outside the right knee.
Second Strike: Rearward Turning Descending
Diagonal Cut to the Left

13. Prepare to turn.
Retract sword from strike position to an attitude
approximately 45 degrees across the chest area.

14.Turning Step.
The left foot steps behind the right foot one
shoulder-width as the sword continues to spiral
upwards as the sword continues to spiral upwards to High Guard position.

15. Initiate Cut.
Having completed the turn to the left, and facing
the 9 o�clock position, with the sword in High Guard position, the sword begins the downward stroke.
|
16. Follow through.
The sword cut follows a path slightly shallow
of 60 degree targeting the area at the base of
the opponent's neck.
|
17. Completion of strike.
Weight is distributed approximately 60%
(front leg) to 40% (rear leg) with the edge of the
sword outside of the left knee.
Third Strike: Horizontal Cut; 180 degrees to the Right
|
18. Prepare to turn.
Retract sword from strike position to an angle approximately 45 degrees across the chest area. The left foot is brought forward a half step to position on the ball of the foot just behind and to the inside of the right heel.

19. Initiate Cut.
The sword begins its horizontal movement as the right foot steps out at a 45 degree angle into an extended stance.
|
20. Follow through.
The sword cut follows a flat path across the entire field of vision (9 o�clock to 3 o�clock positions) as the right knee bends allowing the left knee to descend to the floor. The target is the opponent's waist area

21. Completion of strike. (SHOUT)
Weight is distributed approximately 80% (front leg) to 20% (rear leg) with the left knee only barely touching the floor. The sword is pointing directly to the 3 o�clock position, while the eyes and torso remain fixed at the 12 o�clock position.
Fourth Strike: Forward Turning Descending
Diagonal Cut to the Right

22.Recovery.
The arms remain extended as the left leg is drawn forward under the hips causing the torso to rise. In unison with the rising torso, the sword bladealso rises from the horizontal to a 45 degree angle.

23. Blade reversal.
On completion of the recovery, the sword blade
is snapped facing the sword edge forward.
|
24. First Walking Step
Moving from a center of gravity just below the waist, and maintaining the sword position step forward with the left foot, towards the 12 o�clock position, maintaining contact with the floor,

25. Second Walking Step
Maintaining the sword position, step forward with the right foot, keeping contact with the floor.
|
26. Third Walking Step
Maintaining the sword position step forward
with the left foot, maintaining contact with the floor.
|
27. Fourth Walking Step
Maintaining the sword position step forward
with the right foot, maintaining contact with the floor.
|
28. Right Turn.
Retract right foot, placing the ball of the right foot behind and to the inside of the left heel. Toes will point directly to the right. This motion will cause the tip of the sword to circle in a counter-clockwise motion.

29. Prepare to execute cut.
Continuing the counter-clockwise motion of the sword blade into a position extending up from the shoulder at a 45 degree angle as the right foot steps out into a forward stance to the 3 o�clock position, maintaining contact with the floor.

30. Initiate Cut.
The cut is begun at the hip, followed by the shoulder, and lastly, the sword. The sword cut follows a path at approximately 60 degrees, targeting the area at the opponent' collarbone.

31. Completion of strike.
Weight is distributed approximately 60% (front leg) to 40% (rear leg) with the edge of the sword just outside the right knee.
Fifth Strike: Forward Turning Ascending
Diagonal Cut to the Right

32. Recovery
Retract right foot, placing the heel of the right foot in line with the left heel; the toes are pointing toward the 6 o�clock position. The sword blade is held at the same downward angle as at the completion of the last cut. However, the blade is turned slowly so that the edge faces in unison with the torso in the direction of the next strike.

33. Initiate Cut.
Stepping out into an extended forward stance towards the 6 o�clock position, the sword stroke begins from its original position at the completion of the last cut. The sword cut follows a path slightly shallow of 60 degrees, targeting the area of the opponent's floating ribs.

34. Completion of strike. (SHOUT)
Weight is distributed approximately 80% (right leg) to 20% (left leg) with the sword tip extended at maximum height on a 30 degree angle from the axis of the body and at 45 degree oblique angle to the right of the torso.
Sixth Strike: Descending Diagonal Cut; 180 degree
turn to the Left

35. Turning Step.
The right foot retracts slightly, followed immediately by a 180 degree pivot on the balls of both feet to the 12 o�clock position. This movement causes the sword blade to circle counterclockwise into striking position at the right shoulder.

36. Initiate Cut.
Having completed the turn to the left, facing the 12 o�clock position, and with the sword in High Guard position, the sword begins the downward stroke as the left foot steps back.
|
37. Follow through.
The sword cut follows a path slightly sharper than 60 degrees targeting the area at the base of the opponent's neck.
|
38. Completion of strike.
Weight is distributed approximately 60% (front leg) to 40% (rear leg) with the edge of the sword inside the right knee.
Seventh Strike: Lateral Thrust

39. Recovery
Retract the sword to a shallow angle extending across and just in front of the hips. The right foot is drawn back even with and a foot width to the side of the left foot

40. Initiate Thrust
Side-stepping with the right foot into a straddle stance, the back of the blade rests on and is guided by the bicep of the right arm. The thrust is initiated in a horizontal position with the sword guard positioned in front of the left hip.

41. Completion of thrust
Weight is distributed evenly between both feet;
the sword blade is horizontal, and the sword guard
is in front of the right hip, and the sword tip points to the 3 o�clock position.
Conclusion: Closing techniques

42. Recovery.
Retracting the right foot, the left hand releases the sword grip, while the right hand maintains it's horizontal position.
|
43. Clearing.
In a single sharp motion, the right foot steps forward and the right wrist snaps the sword blade downwards at a 45 degree. In balance with the right hand, the left hand is also snapped sharply downward; it's open hand faced in and parallel to the sword.

44. Right Turn.
The left foot is retracted to a position in which the heel of the left foot is on line with the heel of the right foot. The toes of the left foot are pointed directly to the 9 o�clock position. The open left hand passes in front of the hips to locate the sword handle. This motion and each that follows to the end of the form are executed with measured grace, and heightened awareness.

45. Forward Step.
The sword is raised in a full circle over, and to the outside of the right shoulder while executing a single walking step with the right foot.

46. Middle Guard Position.
Facing the 9 o�clock position.
|
47. First Turn.
Maintaining a Middle Guard position the right foot is redirected about 30 degrees to the left (8 o�clock position) , causing the hips to redirect about the same amount. The left foot is adjusted accordingly
|
48. Second Turn.
Maintaining a Middle Guard position the right foot is redirected about 30 degrees to the left (7 o�clock position), causing the hips to redirect about the same amount. The left foot is adjusted accordingly.

49. Third Turn.
Maintaining a Middle Guard position the right foot is same amount. The left foot is adjusted accordingly.
Resheathing the Sword (Kko Ja Kal)

50. Recovery.
Retract the sword to a shallow angle extending across and just in front of the left hip. The left wrist rests lightly on the belt at the hip. The left thumb and forefinger are joined at the finger tips to form an "O". The back of the sword blade, just forward of the guard rests lightly in the juncture between the two fingertips of the left hand.

51. Draw.
In a single steady motion draw the length of the sword over the juncture of the fingertips, allowing the blade to glide smoothly on it�s side, over the last knuckle of the index finger.

52. Sheathing.
Insert the tip of the sword into the opening of the sheath ("O") and press the sword into its sheath with a single steady pressure, once again allowing it to glide smoothly on the side of the blade.
|
53.Rotation.
At the completion of the sheathing, rotate the sword and sheath 90 degrees clockwise.
|
54. Initiate Turn.
Step behind the left foot approximately one shoulder
width with the right foot.
|
55. Turn.
Pivoting on the balls of both feet turn around to face the original direction of the form. (12 o'clock position)
|
56. Attention Stance.
In a balanced stance, with feet about a shoulder width apart, and the body erect. Complete the form by executing a bow from the waist.
